About us

Who are we?

Basingstoke Sports Trust is a not-for-profit social enterprise and a registered charity. We generate 99% of our income through our fees and charges with the remainder by way of grant support from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

We are a charitable company, established in 1965, and we seek at all times to provide affordable, value for money facilities and activities for sport, recreation and leisure for the benefit of the populations we serve. We provide a diverse mix of sport and leisure opportunities and are an inclusive organisation in all ways. We also strive to ensure equality of opportunity for all sectors of our local communities so that everyone may enjoy the benefits of participating in sport and leisure activity.

During recent years, this has seen the Trust delivering a range of health programmes out in the local community, removing access and transport barriers for customers who may otherwise struggle to get to one of our facilities.

We recognise it is important, as we move forwards, that we focus on maintaining and improving our already strong performance. We will continue to be innovative and consultative when exploring new opportunities and ensure that our organisation is seen as an excellent investment for all sources of external funding. With access to external funding and targeted reinvestment of surpluses generated from our more commercial activities, we are confident we will continue to successfully deliver our strategy. Our organisation operates through a Board of voluntary Trustees who have played a full part in the development of the strategic plan, particularly to ensure that our charitable purpose continues to be discharged effectively. The Trustees bring a vast range of experience and expertise to bear and are imperative to the success of this strategy.

The Trust currently operates two sites: Basingstoke Sports Centre, Basingstoke and bstFitness, Newbury.

Basingstoke Sports Centre is set in an accessible town centre location within Festival Place shopping centre. Easy access and parking makes it an ideal choice when looking for a sport and leisure facility in and around Basingstoke, Hampshire.

In addition to its swimming pools, squash courts, 186-station mixed gym, a separate ladies-only gym - Shape and sports hall, it has three fitness studios, a pedal studio and a multi-purpose activity room. Between the studios, it holds a wide range of fitness classes - with around 100 classes taking place each week.  The class programme has something that is suitable for the young and more mature and all levels of ability. The Centre also hosts an extremely popular soft play area, The Play Den, for younger children and their parents/guardians and a host of children and 'young adults' activities ranging from our popular learn-to-swim programme to sports clubs to school holiday programmes.
