Head of Building & Estates - Stoke-on-Trent

We are the Alton Towers Resort and we are part of the magical Merlin Entertainments!

We are currently recruiting for a Head of Building and Estates to join us at the Alton Towers Resort, the UK's only attraction that specialises in making Britain happy!

Home to one of the most diverse collection of Technical Services requirements in the country, Alton Towers Resort is on the lookout for an experienced Building & Estates Maintenance Manager, passionate about getting the job done in the most efficient and effective way possible.

Under your wing you'll have Joinery, Builders, Gardens and Environmental Services - all requiring a role model, mentor and motivator to deliver exceptional operational results, all set in one of the most unique environments you could ever work in (or take care of!)

Making sure our property is safe, efficient, and available for our guests is your number one priority.  A guest will share a fantastic experience will all their family and friends – and we need to make sure they spread the word!

You will also undertake project work on a regular basis to ensure our product offering remains fresh and exciting, and will take responsibility for ensuring the all-important heritage of our site is maintained within strict requirements.

About you

Qualifications-wise, a time served apprenticeship in a relevant building/engineering discipline is a good start.  A HND or equivalent in construction would also be beneficial, as would an academic management qualification. A sound knowledge of health and safety is a given - even better if you have relevant experience in the theme park or leisure industry.

Your construction and environmental knowledge will be second to none - and you'll be enthusiastic and passionate about your specialist area.  We're a team who are very proud of our Resort, and you'll be happy to join us in feeling that!  You'll also be prepared to make tough decisions, as this is a very responsible role - and you'll be challenged to do so on a daily basis.

Experience of managing large-scale projects is very beneficial, as is knowledge and understanding of the requirements of managing a heritage site.

You'll need to be a people person, need a bit of something about you, a spark that will help foster a collaborative and fun working environment.  We’re on the lookout for engaging people, people for whom the customer is boss.  In return, we’ll give you the opportunity to work at the UK’s number one theme park, further training and development, and a working experience that will stay with you forever.

Alongside a competitive salary, you can look forward to enjoying a great benefits package including a Group Personal Pension Plan, Employee ShareSave scheme, Merlin Magic Pass, Employee Assistance Programme, Childcare Vouchers, Life Assurance, 25% discount in our retail shops and restaurants, 40% discount online on Lego, and much more!

There are opportunities for career advancement at a local, national and international level.
