The Place

Barnett Hill Hotel is the newest member of the Alexander Hotels family joining the Group in September 2016. 

Barnett Hill is a beautiful Queen Anne style property, built in 1905, set within 26 acres of lovingly maintained gardens and woodlands, sitting in the heart of the Surrey Hill area of outstanding natural beauty just outside Guildford, Surrey. This idyllic location is 15 minutes from Guildford town and 45 mins from Central London. 

Exciting refurbishment and redevelopment plans currently underway are transforming this venue into a beautiful Country House Hotel. The Hotel including all bedrooms have been completely refurbished and updated with work currently underway on the Mews building to increase the number of bedrooms to 54 in total. Our first AA inspection has resulted in 4 Stars for the Hotel and 2 Rosettes for dining being awarded, so we are well on the way!

The Role

Working in our Hotel Restaurant you will have responsibility for food and beverage service standards during your shift. Service periods cover breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days per week so candidates must be available for flexible shift patterns across 5 days including weekends. THERE ARE NO SPLIT SHIFTS.

As well as restaurant service the Hotel hosts functions, weddings, conferences and corporate events requiring food and beverage service.

Duties include;

• Ensuring the restaurant/function area is prepared for service

• Supervising Breakfast, Afternoon Tea’s and Restaurant service depending on shift of the day

• Meeting and greeting and seating guests

• Taking guest orders

• Coaching employees to develop their skills and ensure service standards are met

• Serving food and beverage including alcoholic beverages

• Completing satisfaction checks and action all feedback

• Resolving any service issues

• Presenting bills to guests and taking payment

• Resetting the restaurant is reset at the end of the shift ready for the next service

• Ensuring work area is clean and tidy before departing and cleaning schedules are adhered to fully

Requirements

• Smart appearance

• Excellent communication skills with a passion for guest service

• Supervisory experience within a quality food service hotel/restaurant required

• Ability to manage and motivate a team of waiters/esses to ensure excellence

• Must have own transport due to location and shift patterns

Ability to work flexible shifts 5 days per week including weekends. Shift patterns include; 6.30am to 3.00pm, 7am – 3.30pm and 3pm to 11/11.30pm
