Skyliner Sports Centre is a new dual use leisure facility on the same site as the new Sybil Andrews Academy.  We’re looking for a Health and Fitness Coach to join the team at the Sports Centre. Skyliner boasts excellent facilities including a 45 station gym, main hall, 3G all weather pitch and 2 studios for exercise classes, including Les Mills and Les Mills Virtual.  The gym comprises of cardio machines with entertainment, resistance machines, free weights and functional training equipment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about the fitness industry to help others reach their health and fitness goals, as well as developing your own knowledge within this role and the Sports and Leisure Industry. You will need to be able to provide excellent customer service and be focused on member retention. Candidates should have a pro-active nature and be able to use their own initiative, and work well in a team.

The successful candidate will help to oversee the general operations of the gym as well as the sports facilities.  The role will involve carrying out our customer STEPS Programme - customer inductions, programme reviews and health and lifestyle assessments, as well as delivering express classes and group fitness activities. Other key expectations of the role will be to contribute to daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance tasks both in the gym and sports facilities, whilst providing a high level of customer service and interaction. The role will also include opening and closing the building, sports and class set ups and any other reasonable tasks to support the day-to-day running of the Centre. The role is very varied and involves tasks across the Sports Centre from membership tours, reception duties, sports hall set ups, to gym programmes and HIIT classes, to name a few.

A Qualification in Level 2 Fitness Instructing (NVQ) is essential for this role.  More advanced qualifications such as Level 3 would be advantageous in your application. The successful candidate would also ideally be first aid qualified or able to be trained as a first aider. Previous experience in key holder duties is desirable.

Shift patterns include working early morning shifts, late evening shifts, weekends and bank holidays, including some lone working. An example of a 3 week shift pattern is below, but subject to change. You will be responsible for opening and closing the building on certain shifts.  We are therefore looking for candidates that are flexible and able to assist in covering a range of these hours.

In return, Abbeycroft Leisure can offer you:

  • Access to NVQ training and CPD opportunities (eligibility criteria applies)
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Pension scheme
  • Family friendly benefits
  • Free use of Abbeycroft Leisure’s health and fitness facilities
  • Discounts at local restaurant and venues
  • Staff concession scheme

Closing Date: Sunday 21st July 2019.

Interviews will likely take place week beginning 22nd July 2019.
