Interim Bookkeeper / Accountant - Warrington

Key Responsibilities:

  • All day to day administration and accounting of all Group companies (including sites sales returns, purchase ledger, banking, expense ledger)
  • Ensure the Group has appropriate controls and processes for key elements (cash, banking, site returns, suppliers, utilities, etc) which safeguard the Group’s assets and business and provide accurate accounting and commercial information.
  • Ensure all such controls and processes are undertaken in a timely basis and the accounting ledgers for all Group companies are kept up to date to agreed timetable(s).
  • Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly VAT returns
  • Prepare monthly period end accounting entries and management accounts for review (including appropriate QC, sensechecks and identification of items for further review) to agreed timetable
  • Provide management accounts and commercial information to the operations team.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners to ensure: compliance of the accounting function.
  • Use the knowledge and data gained to provide input and suggestions as to how the group may operate more efficiently.

Role

  • Manage the accurate input and output of all transactions into the accounts system
  • Problem solve, exception report and assist in the management of on site systems 
  • Manage supplier payments and build relationships with external accounts
  • Manage an internal ‘approvals’ system for all business costs
  • Provide ‘safety net’ and organisation of commercial agreements and contracts (i.e. utilities / rates / agreed pricing to commercial terms etc)
  • Bank reconciliations and bank liaison
  • Liaison with external providers to ensure accurate and on time delivery Statutory accounts
  • Liaison with HMRC and manage the compliance of the business
  • VAT
  • PAYE
  • Corporation Tax
  • Provide cash flow forecasts and recommendations to manage
  • Provide analysis of payroll data to management
  • Provide stock analysis
  • Central control of the back of house product files and till product/price files
  • Manage the processing of pensions within the business
  • Assist the operations team in reading and understanding accounts
  • Evaluate commercial performance and highlight recommendations for development
  • Building and development of business budgets and forecasts
  • Develop the accounts function as the business develops
  • Involvement in the IT development of the business to progress the accounts function generally
