Head of Leisure - Derbyshire County Council

Location: Council House

Derby City Council is looking to recruit an experienced, ambitious and inspiration individual to head up its Leisure Facilities, Parks, Physical Activity, Participation and LIVEWELL Healthy Lifestyle Programmes.

This is an exciting time for Leisure in Derby where, following the opening of the hugely successful Derby Arena last year, work is now progressing on a project to deliver a new 50m pool for the city. However, it is also a challenging time as we look to deliver our services differently and identify the optimum future model of operation which will achieve significant savings whilst still delivering our core objectives.

As the Head of Leisure you lead on the project to deliver the new pool and fitness centre as well ensuring the effective management and operation of the existing leisure facilities and parks. You will have a commercial and customer focused approach to delivering high quality facilities and services. We’re looking for someone with experience of managing a national/regional leisure facility, as well as of attracting and delivering major sporting events. With experience of managing complex projects and of leading transformational change you will be a leader who embodies the Council’s core values of ‘being the best’ having a ‘can do’ approach, a commitment to providing a ‘brilliant customer experience’ and of treating everyone with ‘honesty and respect’.

We offer a fantastic, friendly working environment - in brand new spacious offices with modern IT and benefits from working practices including a flexible working policy that truly embraces real Work Life Balance. All this with the wonderful Peak District on your doorstep.
