Food and Beverage Assistant (café) - Roehampton, London

Hours: part-time casual. Various shifts available including evenings and weekends

Salary: £12.70 per hour

Roehampton Club is London’s premier private members multisport club, offering a wide range of sports including golf, tennis, Health Club, squash and a full catering provision, delivered to the highest standards. The Club has 5100 members (4,100 adults and 1,000 juniors).

Job purpose:

To participate in the day-to-day operation of the Food and Beverage department with the focus on the bar operation.

Key responsibilities: -

  • To create 100% Member satisfaction through providing a ‘yes I can’ attitude and exceeding Members’ expectations
  • To follow the eight steps of service training to ensure 100%-Member satisfaction in food and beverage service
  • To ensure adherence to set standards for all food and beverage service
  • To follow and complete cleaning schedule as requested to ensure all storerooms, corridors and the bar area are kept to the highest of standards
  •  To learn and understand the food and drinks we serve to be able to talk to Members about the products and to ‘Upsell’ as and when possible
  • To set-up and refresh when necessary, the cafe, piano bar, function rooms or any other areas as required
  • Adhere to opening and closing procedures when on the rota for those shifts
  • Take payments for goods in accordance with club procedures
  • Ensure Members follow the Members’ Cafe rules and regulations or ensure a senior member of the team is aware of any breaches
  • Duties required for the smooth running of the cafe – stocking up, stock rotation, pre / post service preparation
  • To ensure you adhere to all legislative and company fire, health and safety and security guidelines
  • To attend daily pre-shift meetings to discuss the day’s upcoming events in detail, special requests, and product development
  • To ensure the correct uniform and name badge are worn at all times
  • To actively participate in departmental meetings
  • Any other reasonable request by your manager or a senior manager   The above job description is not exhaustive, and you may be required to carry out tasks as specified by the club that are outside the content of your job description on occasion
    While full training will be given the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and competencies: -
  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Experience in an events environment is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to use your own initiative
  • Good customer care skills including respecting internal external customers
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong team player and good communicator
  • Good time management skills
  • Professionally well groomed
