Kitchen Assistant - Thames Ditton, Surrey

Job Purpose: 

To maintain a clean, well-presented, and fully stocked kitchen environment, supporting the Catering Manager and other cooks in preparing high-quality food for members and guests. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards, while contributing to the smooth operation of kitchen equipment and processes. 

Role and Responsibilities: 

  • Support colleagues in the kitchen and other departments. 
  • Provide emergency cover in cases of absence. 
  • Assist bar staff during quiet periods in the kitchen. 
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety, ensuring all policies are followed. 
  • Prepare food items for the breakfast, main, and children’s menus, as well as protein balls and pastries for the bar. 
  • Prepare and cook food for various functions, including:  
  • Old Pauline Sports Club events. 
  • Sports matches (football, cricket, rugby, croquet).  
  • Kids' parties and weekend meals. 
  • Buffets and other events, either independently or with supervision. 
  • Ensure all dishes are made to high standards, meeting gross profit (GP) targets where applicable. 
  • Assist in the preparation of specials and standard meals (e.g., curries, chilies). 

Stock & Supplies Management 

  • Assist with ordering supplies when required.  
  • Receive, check, and organize deliveries, ensuring items are undamaged, correctly stored, and date rotated. 
  • Ensure suppliers follow proper delivery procedures, including signing for stock. 

 Health, Safety & Hygiene 

  • Adhere to COSHH, Food Safety, and Health & Safety regulations always.  
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues promptly. 
  • Complete cleaning checklists and ensure:  
  • Equipment is turned off at the end of shifts. 
  • Surfaces are cleaned, and fridge/freezer temperatures are logged. 
  • Follow the kitchen dress code: black trousers, full apron, chef jacket, non-slip shoes, and hair nets. 

 Finance: 

  •  Monitor and record wastage. 

KPI’s: 

  • Consistently produce and serve food to a high-quality standard. 
  • Maintain a positive Net Promoter Score (NPS). 

 Qualifications / Educational Requirements: 

  • Level 3 Food Hygiene
  • First Aid and Defibrillator 
  • Customer Service Training – Preferred
