Visitor Experience Officer - Bath

Summary

Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people – connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit.

This role is permanent, full-time, including working bank holidays and on average one weekend in three. The role is based at Dyrham Park with frequent working at Prior Park Landscape Garden in Bath.

What it's like to work here

You’ll be reporting to a Senior Visitor Experience Officer, working in a core team of 7 across Dyrham Park and Prior Park Landscape Garden.

Dyrham Park is 270 acres of ancient deer park, with formal garden and Baroque mansion house. Dyrham provides something for everyone all-year round with a school holiday programme of family events, and term-time activities for under 5s. Adults are encouraged to visit across multiple seasons with programmes like Tulip Mania, Escape into Autumn and Christmas through the Ages highlighting seasonal moments.

Prior Park Landscape Garden is a beautiful and intimate 18th-century landscape garden in Bath with one of only four Palladian bridges of its style found in the world. Popular with locals, a newly reopened lower entrance closer to the city centre means they can make the most of the seasonal moments. Highlights include wild garlic, and exploring history through the Festival of Archaeology. School holidays are celebrated with Easter adventures in Nature and other seasonal trails.

What you'll be doing

As Visitor Experience Officer, your main focus will be on providing a great experience for visitors in the outdoors. This might include improving access across the site to ensure everyone feels welcome, having a keen eye for detail with presentation standards, designing and delivering a programme of events to engage visitors in nature and history, and managing the smooth running of the visitor experience day to day to ensure everyone has a great visit.

You'll be managing and supervising volunteers to make sure they have the best possible experience while volunteering with the National Trust. You'll undertake site Duty Management on a rolling rota with team members form other departments, being the main point of contact for the day.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
