Carnival UK (P&O Cruises & Cunard) are delighted to present an opportunity onboard as a Crew Welfare Officer.
The Welfare Officer will work to enhance the onboard experience and promote positive mental health for the ship's company through effective coordination of crew activities and programmes linked to the 5 ways to Wellbeing (Give, Take notice, Keep learning, Be active and Connect).
Primary Responsibility of the Role:
- Promote a healthy lifestyle and adoption of healthy behaviours amongst our crew, helping to facilitate improvements and ensure that the tools are available to create a happy healthy and comfortable environment.
- Create and deliver engaging social events for the crew, supporting social and spiritual downtime and encouraging our Ship's Company to socialise, have fun and promote positive mental health.
- Partner with the Onboard Medical Team to promote focused Occupational Health (OH) campaigns and organising supporting events.
- Utilise different methods to support diverse network of crew onboard and provide pastoral care. Think creatively to come up with new and engaging methods of promoting crew welfare.
- Actively encourage a holistic approach to Wellbeing on board, incorporating Safety, HR, OH and the Medical Team, ensuring that all key stakeholders on board work together to enhance the overall crew experience.
- Work with onboard stakeholders (eg Entertainment, Shore Excursions, Food &Beverage) to deliver wellbeing standards and activity onboard.
- Support the completion of life on board survey, the development of robust actions plans and communication of actions/results.
- Work alongside Onboard Medical team and Line Managers to support activity to manage absence onboard.
- Support completion of crew standards audits.
- Work alongside the HR Manager to lead the Seafarers Welfare Committee (SWC) & encourage participation, attendance at meetings, gather balanced feedback
- Promoting company tools for good mental health.
To be successful in this role, applicants must have the below experience:
- Working within the Travel, Tourism & Hospitality Industry, onboard experience desirable
- Working within Employee welfare, wellbeing and/or engagement roles
- Working & building relationships with teams of a diverse mixture of nationalities, cultures and backgrounds
- Good command of written and spoken English
