Part of Crimson Hotels, The Trafalgar St. James, Curio Collection by Hilton is a 5 Star hotel with 131 bedrooms including 15 suites, and a number of venues consisting of our unique The Rooftop Bar and Rockwell that pride themselves in the quality of service that they provide.
The Role
The key purpose of your role is to ensure the outlet consistently deliver high levels of customer service, and to deliver the required profit margins while continually driving revenues.
You will also - but not be limited to:
- Maintain an extensive wine list and manage stock.
- Provide recommendations to guests, suggesting wine pairings that enhance their dining experience.
- Collaborate with the management team to contribute to the overall success of the restaurant.
- Provide wine training sessions for staff to enhance their wine knowledge and service skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop your skills in the art of wine service.
- To be fully conversant with the facilities, services and special promotions offered by the hotel and to pass this information on to the guest whenever possible to maximize hotel sales.
- Ensure all Health & Safety, stocktaking and audits are taking place.
- To support other functions and shifts as required.
- Provide support for other F&D outlets to cover peak business times, holidays and absences.
- Establish and maintain strict security procedures within your department.
- To ensure a sound knowledge of the local area regarding history, places of interest and special events and where further information can be obtained.
About you
- A passion for wine and a desire to pursue a career as a sommelier.
- A highly motivated and results-oriented with an experience in a fast-paced restaurant and/or bar environment.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a deep understanding of guest needs and expectations.
- Must have excellent knowledge of food, wine and cocktail. Also, must be passionate about food and beverage trends, with a commitment share the knowledge with the team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
