Leisure Assistant (Casual) - Forest Row, East Sussex

Due to lone working candidates must be over 18 years of age.

Providing support across all areas of the Country Club & Spa to ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are maintained and areas are ready for guest use at all times. It is a varied role, including welcoming and looking after hotel residents, private members and day visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing support across all areas of the Country Club & Spa to ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are maintained and areas are ready for guest use at all times. It is a varied role, including welcoming and looking after hotel residents, private members and day visitors.

  • To open and close the Country Club and Spa, with lone working at the end of a late shift (1.30pm-9pm).
  • Ensuring all areas of the Country Club including the pool area and Leisure Club furniture, are clean and tidy, ready for use.
  • Carrying out pool tests and maintenance as required.
  • To provide a welcoming atmosphere for all our guests and members.
  • Assisting with reception duties including answering the telephone, checking in visitors and advising on services available as well as directing guests to changing rooms, Relaxation Room, the Forest Brasserie and treatment areas.
  • To work closely with the Reception, Brasserie and Spa teams to ensure smooth running of the day.

Key Attributes:

  • Have a good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Be passionate about customer service with a friendly and welcoming demeanour.
  • Have good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook. Previous experience working with Microsoft Excel and a spa booking system would be an advantage.
  • Love what they do and possess the ability to work well under pressure with good time management skills.
  • Possess a ‘can do’ attitude and be able to use their own initiative.
  • Be able to clean effectively to the high standards of hygiene required, and have good attention to detail.

Communication, Planning and Organisation

  • To attend Staff Meetings, as required.
  • To be polite at all times, reporting any complaints to the Head of Department.
  • To report any suspicious incidents, substances, objects or characters immediately to the Duty Manager.
  • Report and hand over any lost property.
  • Ensure security of Company monies, stock and premises.
  • To be smart at all times whilst on duty and wear the correct uniform.  Personal hygiene is to be of the highest standard.
  • To be aware of, and comply with, the Hotel’s Rules and Regulations.

Health and Safety

  • To carry out allocated daily cleaning duties and maintain hygiene standards indoors (as per the rota), in the gymnasium, changing rooms, pool, surrounds, spa, reception office and any other Health Club area.
  • Offer and assist with correct use of the facilities and equipment and be aware of all Health and Safety policies.
  • Issue health questionnaire to all hotel guests before they use any equipment.  Be prepared to assist if necessary.
  • Perform necessary pool tests and maintenance on the swimming pool and spa throughout the day as detailed on the Operating Procedures and by direction of the Country Club Manager.
  • To take part in the necessary training to supervise the swimming pools and spa as required.
  • To check, record and report any necessary maintenance to the Maintenance Manager.
  • To carry out all duties in a safe manner, having regard to the health, safety and welfare of all persons on Hotel premises.
  • To be aware of and comply with the Hotel’s policy on Health & Safety at Work, reporting any hazards to the Health & Safety Representative.
