About us

We are an independantly owned cafe with an onsite bakery where all the baked goods production happens. Layers was born out of a passion to supply our guests and other businesses who care about the quality and craftsmanship of pastry and bread as much as we do.

Located amongst a brand new residential area with a strong community vibe, Layers is the new hottest bakery in town. At Layers we bake, sell and serve delicious goods for the cafe including freshly baked sourdough goods, specialty coffee, grab-and-go viennoiserie as well as a very seasonal all-day brunch menu from the cafe. Layers is also a wholesale bakery that deliver our baked goods throughout London to other cafes and restraunts.

We are seeking a skilled Barista all-rounder to join our team in creating exceptional coffee & brunch experiences for our customers. The ideal candidate will be experianced, have a fabulous attitude, team spirit and dedicated to delivering outstanding service.

Responsibilities

  • Produce specialty coffees & other beverages for both dine in and takeaway customers
  • Provide excellent customer service by taking orders and offering recommendations
  • Operate coffee-making equipment such as espresso machines and grinders
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitisation standards for front of house
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions

Requirements

  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • You are friendly and professional.
  • You understand the difference between customer service and hospitality and deliver both with excellence.
  • Ability to build rapport with our amazing customers
  • Ability to work under pressure and thrive alone or as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills; both to give and ask for help where required.
  • Situational awareness within the Cafe - you know what’s happening around you.
  • Ideally you will have knowledge and want to further your curiosity about all things sourdough, bread and viennoiserie.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time management skills to ensure timely service delivery
  • Previous experience in food & coffee preparation is advantageous but not essential
