Sous Chef - Prestigious Corporate Environment
Pay rate: 16.25ph
Location: Edinburgh
Reporting to: Head Chef
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Sous Chef to join our culinary team in a leading corporate environment. This role is essential in supporting the Head Chef to deliver high-quality food and service across both retail and hospitality provisions.
Key Responsibilities:Food Preparation & Cooking:
  • Assist in preparing, cooking, and presenting menus to the required standards.
  • Ensure consistency in quality and presentation across all services.
  • Manage food production levels, control waste, and ensure portion control to meet GP targets.
Operations:
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, service, and cleaning.
  • Manage food ordering, stock control, and ensure compliance with due diligence.
  • Support events and client functions by attending meetings and delivering agreed details.
Health, Safety & Environment:
  • Comply with hygiene, health and safety regulations, and complete all necessary training.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized work environment and ensure all equipment is in good working order.
  • Ensure that risk assessments are completed and report accidents/incidents as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Promote a positive work environment and encourage teamwork and professional development.
  • Lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Create and manage rotas for the kitchen team.
Person Specification & Skills:
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role within high-volume catering or corporate environments.
  • Strong culinary skills with a passion for creativity and food presentation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills.
  • Financial management experience within a kitchen setting.
  • NVQ Level 3 in professional cookery or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations, HACCP, and health & safety management.
  • Experience using Outlook, Word, Excel, and scheduling systems.
