HR Business Partner - Beeston

Role Title: People & Business Partner

Responsible for: N/A

Reporting to: Head of HR

Based: Hybrid (Midlands based)

Purpose of the Role

People Partners are a direct support to hotels by leading on all employee relations and HR matters alongside all other activities that support the people strategy of recruitment, selection, engagement, reward & learning and development. Each People partner supports a group of hotels ( up to 8) both onsite and remotely as the business requires. The role is a hybrid between home working and hotel locations with a minimum of 1 visit to each hotel per month.


People partners are expected to offer expert advice and strategic support on all people matters on both reactive and proactive plans to drive employee satisfaction and in turn drive employee engagement and retention.

    Transparency & escalation with Head of HR

    Delivering Key Training to the Region


Key Accountabilities:

  • Employee Relations

    • Effective case management and resolution in a timely and cost effective manner.

    • Comply with the Village people - Legislative Processes and Procedures.

    • Compliance with institutional organisations such as trade unions

    • Adherence to policy and procedure and adaptation to employment law changes or Village policy.

    • Case Management to ensure we are able to track trends and include;

      • Disciplinary & Grievance

      • Flexible & Predictable Hours Requests

      • Long Term Sick

      • Wellness & mental Health

    • Escalation of any high risk cases to Head of HR

    • Highlighting areas of opportunity to the rest of the People Team to ensure we can drive a strong people culture.

    • Coach and mentor with strong feedback to managers for improved performance around HR issues and reduction in cases.

    • Adherence to NMW & HMRC practices relating to employees.

    • Contractual management of all employees.


  • Systems / Compliance

    • Audits of working patterns for all contract types

    • Audits of Employee information on systems

    • Reviewing the L&D completion for your properties and driving to close the gap

  • Culture

    • Engagement in the Big People Days & Village Green Initiatives

    • Engagement in the Team, getting to know each team and driving them to success

    • Driving the L&D Strategy of the Business by enrolling, encouraging and mentoring those want that next step


  • Recruitment

    • Identify recruitment needs and support Hotel GM's and HOD's to fill

    • Support with recruitment, assessment days and interviewing.

    • Support with the induction and onboarding process


  • Employee Life Cycle

    • Support with start to end employment journey processes.

    • Support with driving Be My Guest programme and access to reduce 90 day turnover


  • Equity Diversity & Inclusion

    • Ensuring compliance with legislation and Village values.

    • Ambassador of the ED&I values.


  • HR Training

    • Support with the delivery of HR training sessions including but not limited to Disciplinary & Grievance, Discrimination V Banter, Soft Skills

    • Identify and support with any HR Skill gaps

    • Drive the Group's multi skill initiative.


  • Legislative training

    • Drive completion in key legislative areas with the support of the General Manager.


  • Internal development

    • Support with the role out and delivery of our internal development programmes supporting the growth of our teams.


  • Apprenticeship

    • Support with managing the Apprenticeship Levy and ensuring we are utilising the fund to its full potential allowing us to upskill our teams.


Personal specification

  • CIPD Level 5 or Above

  • Strong Employment Law Knowledge

  • Generalist HR Experience

  • Proven Experience to manage remotely

  • Autonomous

  • Self Driven

  • Impartial striving to the needs of the business

  • Strong communicator both written and verbally

  • Attention to detail
