Hostelling Scotland is a national charity providing accommodation and experiences across Scotland. We believe in the transformative power of adventure to inspire and empower young people. Our network of hostels serve as hubs for cultural exchange, personal growth and community engagement, welcoming guests from around the world to explore Scotland’s rich heritage and natural beauty.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Engagement and Volunteer Co-ordinator to join our team. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people through the creation and delivery of innovative youth engagement programmes within the context of our hostelling network. The successful person will be passionate about youth empowerment, dedicated to the creation of positive social change, with a strong commitment to fostering inclusivity.
This is a new role that we will develop together and implement engaging youth programmes and activities that promote personal growth and social inclusion, collaborating with youth organisations, schools and community partners to identify needs, opportunities and funding for youth engagement and participation.
Alongside youth engagement we would also like you to expand our volunteering programme. Working alongside our managers you will recruit, train and support volunteers to deliver projects, providing ongoing guidance, supervision and development opportunities.
As a charity it is essential that we evaluate both programmes for effectiveness and impact, and you will be at the centre of this feedback from participants and stakeholders to inform future development and improvement.
This is a big role that we think will be both exciting and creative. It would suit someone who has experience in youth engagement settings and volunteering best practice. You should have a solid understanding of youth engagement networks in Scotland and enjoy developing mutually beneficial partnerships within these networks that can complement and enhance the work already carried out by Hostelling Scotland.
If you would like to shape your future and contribute to youth-led initiatives and volunteering of the future for Hostelling Scotland then we would love to hear from you. If you would like an informal discussion prior to applying then please let us drop us an email and we can arrange this.
Applicants will only be considered if able to demonstrate youth work principles, youth participation approaches and have knowledge of relevant legislation and policies.
Applicants should hold a full manual driving licence. If successful a full PVG disclosure check will be required prior to commencing in this role.
What We Offer:
- A competitive salary and benefits package.
- Hybrid Working
- A supportive and collaborative working environment.
- The chance to be part of a respected and well-established organisation committed to delivering exceptional experiences for guests.
Hostelling Scotland is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of their race, gender, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation, or age.
