Wells & Co - Bedford based craft brewery, a well-established Pub Partner estate, 30 managed pubs, English pubs in France and 140+ years of history, so far! To support our exciting adventure and growth plans for 2024 we have a newly created role of Data Analyst. As a Data Engineer you will lead relationships with operational areas and work closely with our finance department to proactively identify opportunities to improve the business performance.
You will utilise your analytical expertise to discover the insights that change the status quo and accelerate the growth of Wells & Co exponentially and foster a culture of data driven innovation and evidence-based decision making. The Role:

As a Data Engineer you will lead relationships with operational areas and work closely with our finance department to proactively identify opportunities to improve the business performance.
You will utilise your analytical expertise to discover the insights that change the status quo and accelerate the growth of Wells & Co exponentially and foster a culture of data driven innovation and evidence-based decision making. The Role:
- Ongoing development of Wells & Co. Data tool stack
- End to end reporting / data insight ownership
- Gathering requirements from operational divisions
- Translation of operational requirements to deliverables
- Transition of existing reports to PowerBI
- Active input into Wells & Co. Data and Reporting Strategy
- Coach all areas of the business to develop an ethos of high-quality input data = high quality output reporting
- Creation and ongoing maintenance of SQL and DAX queries
- Ensuring daily, weekly, monthly reporting packs are delivered to schedule and available at agreed times with business owners
- Development and ongoing maintenance of Data Warehouse, OLAP cubes
- Working with other business functions to identify and remove inefficiencies in existing tasks
- Monitor accuracy of data ensuring education of business line users to correct source data
- Coach and knowledge share data reporting and analytics methodologies / technologies to Finance colleagues
- Documentation of Wells & Co data and reporting landscape, models and maps
- Other tasks and duties as required
What we are looking for:
- Academic degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Quantitative disciplines Statistics / Mathematics / Economics
- At least 3 years of relevant working experience as a Data Analyst in a closely related role and relevant industry
- Good programming skills in Python and/or R, including common Data Science toolkits & packages.
- Excellent SQL and DAX query knowledge.
- Experience with JET Analytics & JET Reports (Desirable)
- Previous experience with cloud platforms (e.g., MS Azure) in scaling analytical products in general
- Excellent experience in working with Business Intelligence tools, preferably Microsoft PowerBI.
- Excellent command of techniques used in each stage of Data Science workflow: ETL, EDA, feature engineering, modelling, evaluation of learning algorithms.
- Awareness/Understanding of Machine Learning algorithms for classification & regression.
- Excellent Communication skills and a good command of Data Visualization concepts and techniques
- Team working (cross-functional & IT team)
