About the job

Come and join Britain’s biggest wildlife theme park!

Chessington World of Adventures Resort is the only UK attraction to offer a theme park, zoo, SEA LIFE aquarium, two themed hotels and glamping, plus a year-round programme of seasonal EVENTures - all under one roof. With 40 wild rides and over 1,000 animals spread across 128 acres, Chessington is Britain’s wildest adventure! And last year – in the single largest investment in Chessington’s history - we partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment to launch World of Jumanji, the world’s first Jumanji-themed land.

If you’re looking for variety this is the place to be! From coordinating TV filming of our animal experiences, to hosting influencers on our iconic rides; working with the world’s leading IP owners whose characters we bring to life, to raising awareness of the Chessington Conservation Fund - the role of PR at Chessington is as diverse as the attraction’s offering.

In this position you will play a pivotal part in shaping and executing the earned media plan for Chessington World of Adventures Resort, with the goal of driving visitation to the resort. Reporting to the Head of PR, you will deliver activity which generates on-brand coverage across broadcast, print and digital media. You will:

  • Support and occasionally deputise for the Head of PR on crisis communications, including preparing and executing statements to ensure the brand’s reputation is protected
  • Organise and take part in the out-of-hours, on-call rota

Qualifications & Experience

  • An exciting position for an outstanding PR professional with three to five years’ PR experience (in-house or agency), looking to further their career within a class-leading leisure and entertainment brand
  • Educated to degree level
  • A highly motivated and confident individual with an eye for detail and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Up-to-date media sector knowledge and strong relationships with journalists
  • An awareness and enthusiasm for the latest PR, cultural trends, acting as an expert internally on any industry developments
  • Uses creative flair to generate ideas that will contribute to the earned media plan
  • Extensive experience writing press releases and media materials, facilitating press interviews, and briefing spokespeople for interviews
  • Crisis management experience

  • Excellent organisational skills, budget management and time management, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to liaise and forge strong relationships with a cross section of teams across the resort, as well as external stakeholders including media, influencers and VIPs

This is a full-time, permanent position working 40 hours per week Mon to Fri, which will also include some out-of-hours working where required for media activations and events.
