The Role

The world has changed post Covid, and restaurants need to develop and change as well. The position will review the current People Experience Strategy and be part of the team that helps evolve this strategy to be relevant to modern times and delivery growth through our people. The role will suit an aspiring People Advisor who wants to grow and add value rather than just following someone else’s playbook.

The Team

Things are done a differently at Rum Kitchen, the story of the brand hasn’t been finished. The opening chapters have been written but no one really knows where it will end up, that’s what some people love about working at RK and others don’t, we just know that people need to be head of the agenda and we have lots to still learn. The people team presently contains two previous GMs who have stepped up and two external HR consultants who help develop the people and support team.

What you'll be doing;

• First and foremost being the voice of our teams in any support office activity.
• Supporting operation managers on people activity with creative, tailored solutions to people challenges
• The point of contact for restaurant managers for all people enquiries and for the teams if they need to escalate a query.
• Maintaining the relationship with external people platform – recruitment/L&D – and ensuring we are using all functionality to attract, engage and develop our people.
• Owning the people cycle and ensuring that at every level we are competitive and evolving to meet the requirements of our people.
• Ensuring that the review process is up to date and adds value rather than being just a tick box exercise.
• Policy and people process ownership, keeping us legally compliant and up to date
• ER advice and support to all managers
• ER coaching and training to all managers
• ER case reporting
• Complex case management and supporting operations management with appeals, consulting with legal support where needed.

Qualifications and experience

We'd love to meet someone with;

• Previous experience as a People Advisor in a fast paced environment
• Experience in building strong relationships with teams and stakeholders
• Experience and confidence in challenging as well as supporting managers
• Experience working within the hospitality sector would be desirable
• CIPD qualified or willingness to study for CIPD
• Fun, team player who works collaboratively for the success of the wider team
• Confident communicator, comfortable communicating with employees at all levels, flexing your style as necessary
• Able to build and maintain strong, meaningful relationships
• Happy to deal with ambiguity, fluid situations and changing deadlines
• Able to balance priorities with the ability to handle the day to day workload as well as projects
• Considers the bigger picture as well as the detail
