What you'll be doing:

You will ensure that the appropriate quantity, consistency and best quality of staff are booked for work at Newmarket/Huntingdon Racecourse. Input the weekly payroll and assist the Management of the variable payroll to achieve financial targets set while meeting the operational. Assist the development of the recruitment and training plans and activities in the location to ensure world class customer service. This position is based at Newmarket and you will also be required to support race days at Huntingdon and other locations as the business requires.

You will be required to support the Head of People Operations in the following key areas:
Recruitment, selection and retention practices
Labour cost management
Learning and development initiatives
Event planning
Adherence to all Levy HR Core signatures

More about the role:
  • Your key responsibility will be for the Staffing operations across Newmarket racecourse and Huntingdon whilst supporting on an ad-hoc basis other Jockey Club Catering sites and during key Festivals
  • Lead and manage recruitment of casual team members for the business, lead constructive 121's with all HOD's to discuss staffing activity whilst instilling and maintaining a people first culture
  • You will manage the relationship with Constellation, challenge and continually review variable labour specifications within all areas to assess cost effectiveness
  • Supporting senior management and HR with staffing and act as a central point of contact for employee queries on payroll and rosters. This will also include ensuring payroll is signed off and processed
  • You will possess a keen eye for detail and accuracy when building staff planners/rosters for each racing season across your designated racecourses.
  • Build, lead and manage an effective process with clear recruitment objectives and plans that are updated and maintained including RTW, training and building a talent pool of candidates/talent matrix

Who you are:
  • You will have experience of working as a Staffing or Recruitment Officer or similar in a demanding fast paced environment or as a HR generalist
  • You will be positive, approachable and a trouble shooter with experience of delivering development and retention plans
  • Someone who is commercially astute with experience in a fast paced, high volume variable labour environment with an active eye and awareness of the recruitment market and our key competitors
