Salary: Competitive + Private Medical + Pension + Eligible Annual Bonus up to 15%

About the facility:

The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare UK is a brand new 100million, purpose built 50 bed, multi-speciality private hospital opening in Birmingham in 2023. Located on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus, the hospital will have the deep clinical infrastructure, equipment and facilities and expert, experienced teams to deliver full clinical pathways across a mix of specialties and sub-specialties at all levels of complexity including Cardiology, Cancer and Complex Surgery. The Harborne Hospital is the 4th NHS partnership within this network, partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.

Role Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Liaison Manager to join our brand new team. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the CLM will be responsible for the business and relationship development with the facility's Consultant body and the recruitment of new Consultants, in line with the development of the hospitals business plan and activities.

The post holder will be very familiar with hospital operations, language and roles, and will facilitate the building of ongoing Consultant relationships and the identification and implementation of growth opportunities, across the range of services delivered at The Harborne Hospital.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the COO to provide an efficient and effective business development function for the Hospital - working in close collaboration with the facility's leadership team.

  • Support relationship development with Consultants and The Harborne Hospital leadership team, advocating HCA's focus on quality, and the organisations vision and values.

  • Support Consultants appreciation of the Hospital's pathway and service capabilities.

  • Support the analysis of market data for Consultants and service lines, including referral pathway information, ensuring that relationship priorities are identified and acted upon.

  • Assist the facility's operational & clinical teams with the development of new service and treatment pathways.

  • Support the compilation of reports containing KPI for the facility.

  • Increase overall Consultant satisfaction by way of strategic communication and liaison functions to support the ultimate goal and objective of increased consultant loyalty.

  • Establish a trustworthy working relationship, including face to face meetings with consultants and their medical secretaries or practice managers, incorporating an understanding of individual preferences and needs.

  • Support the production and ongoing management of consultant agreements in liaison with Legal and Business Development/Physician Services Departments.

  • Maintain and develop Consultant relationships and referral pathways (including GP introductions).

  • An ability to work flexibly, including some unsocial hours, are integral to the role and maintaining appropriate links and access to the consultants.

  • The role is subject to specific growth objectives.

Skills and experience
Your experience will include but would not be limited to:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

  • Excellent IT skills: competent in all MS office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Previous hospital based experience preferable

  • Able to work on own initiative, pro-active and to cope in changing environments

  • Ability to research, understand, and explain healthcare services, utilisation, and market data

  • Ability to research, understand, and explain market demographics

  • Ability to access, understand, and explain Consultant referral patterns

  • Ability to navigate PMI providers and understand the UK public and private healthcare systems

  • Ability to prepare and present data driven reports
