We are currently recruiting for a Technical Support Administrator to provide first and second level support to our Youth Hostels and Head Office teams.

You will be based at our Head Office in Stirling, with occasional travels to our youth hostels throughout our network in order to provide on-site support; accordingly, a valid full and clean driving licence is essential.

About the role:

The Hostelling Scotland IT Team are responsible for the delivery, management and support of all IT-related systems and applications across the hostelling network and Head Office. The department provides guidance and technical support to over 250 end users and manages a significant and complex IT infrastructure.

Reporting to the Information Technology Manager, you will join a small highly skilled IT team and play a key role in providing support to users on a diverse range of IT issues whilst assisting and working closely with other members of the team on various projects.

Key duties include :

  • To provide support and advice to all users of IT systems and facilities.  Acting as first point of contact for queries, logging calls, taking ownership/prioritising issues through to resolution and where necessary escalating issues.
  • Providing hardware support including diagnostic, troubleshooting and installation of equipment
  • Providing support for booking system and commonly used packages such as Windows, MS Office and antivirus.
  • Routine and ad hoc site visits throughout the Hostelling Scotland hostel network will be required and depending on location and complexity of work required, the occasional overnight stay in a youth hostel.  Therefore, a flexible approach to working hours and travel is a key requirement.
  • Providing admin support to the IT Team including dealing with third party suppliers, invoicing and purchasing as directed.
  • Provide cover and additional support to other members of the IT department as and when required.

This is a hands-on role, which will require initiative and enthusiasm to research and troubleshoot technical issues, taking ownership and developing solutions for our users.

Ideally you will:

  • Have an in-depth understanding and working knowledge of :
  • Windows 10 Endpoint security / Antivirus Multifunctional Printers Backup solutions Basic networking, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS and VPN Admin of Windows Server, AD & Group policies
  • Be qualified at HNC/HND level or above and have previous IT technical support experience along with good communication skills and a customer first approach.
  • Be the first point of contact for IT support and as such, you will need to be customer focused and able to work under pressure. Have good organisational skills, have a friendly and professional approach, and be able to communicate using non-technical language.
