Project Manager - Swindon

Summary

** Internal Applicants Only **
We’re seeking an experienced and passionate Project Manager to join us for a 12 month secondment on a part-time or full-time basis. This is a new role working in partnership with a major food retailer partner where you will lead on an exciting new opportunity to develop a nature friendly, low carbon farming initiative.

Upon starting this role there is a requirement in your first week to be based at our Head Office in Swindon and at our retail partner’s headquarters in London. After this the majority of your time will be based at home, but you will need to have the flexibility to self-fund attending our Head Office in Swindon as and when the need arises. There will also be some travel elsewhere which will be claimable through expenses.

What it's like to work here

This is a brilliant opportunity to lead on what is potentially a revolutionary programme of activity for the Trust, working closely with a major food retailer to meet our objectives to become the landlord of choice for nature friendly farming, providing a catalyst for change across our tenanted land and beyond. Working in partnership with multiple stakeholders from a range of disciplines within the Trust, relevant counterparts from our partner and organisations in their supply chain, as well as a number of our tenant farmers; you will develop a scheme which will see us adopt an approach to reduce and capture carbon and increase biodiversity, which can be rolled out across NT tenant farms.

What you'll be doing

Leading on all elements of this complex project, you’ll be working closely with the Head of Let Estate (Project Sponsor), the National Trust’s Farming Systems Consultant, Head of Environment Research & Data, Corporate Partnerships, as well as relevant individuals from our partner organisation. As Project Manager you will utilise teams from both organisations to develop the legal and financial models the programme requires.
Key to your success will be building positive relationships with our tenant farmers, consulting with them throughout, ensuring our proposed models and approaches provide the right level of incentive. You will need to work with colleagues from both organisations to build positive relationships with our farm tenants, developing a package of training and support, providing the farmers with the support they need to meet the requirements of the programme.
We anticipate that the project will result in a joint branded product as well as a marketing campaign, which will communicate its provenance and sustainability. Therefore, you will need to work closely with the Marketing and Communications teams from both organisations as well.

Who we're looking for

• Experience of delivering complex multidisciplinary projects successfully • A recognised project management qualification such as AMP, PMQ, Prince or MSP  • Evidence of ongoing CPD in your career to date• Excellent communication skills, demonstrating problem resolution and influencing skills, working sensitively and confidentially• A strong understanding of land management and an appreciation of the upcoming challenges facing farming.• A proven ability to build successful relationships with external partners, demonstrating strong commercial awareness.• Experience of working with farmers directly will be an advantage.
