We are looking for a GIS Data Officer to join us on an 18-month fixed term contract. Working as part of the GIS Data Team, within our Strategy Management Unit, managing key datasets in relation to our acquisitions.  
Contractually you will be based at our head office in Swindon, however we will consider applicants within commutable distance of any national trust hub office. There will be an opportunity to explore and agree hybrid working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust.
We are offering a salary of £30,000 to £38,000


What it's like to work here

Whilst being part of the Data team you will also functionally sit within a multi-disciplinary estates project team, where you will be responsible for a substantial element of technical GIS data editing and data maintenance as well as creating cartographic output from the data. 

What you'll be doing

You will be a great team member, working collaboratively to accurately capture, manage and analyse datasets that support the project and the organisations future business needs.  Your cartographic skills will produce mapping outputs to support the governance process and illustrate our strategic ambitions, whilst your GIS skills will assist in delivering training and guidance to ensure staff are able to adopt and embed new ways of working.

Who we're looking for

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of GIS, especially in digitisation and data capture
  • Experience of using data capture procedures working to quality standards
  • Strong cartographic skills
  • Good knowledge and experience of relational databases and structured query language
  • Good knowledge of legislation effecting data management
  • Highly numerate with experience and knowledge of statistics
  • Demonstrable consulting skills; listening, buildings trust and acting to deliver a high quality service
  • Good presentation and communication skills
