Experiences & Partnerships Curator - Exeter

Summary

***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY***
This permanent term role is an exciting opportunity for a visitor experience professional to help deliver the National Trust’s aspirations for curation and experiences. Brilliant experiences are key to our purpose of ‘Looking After Special Places for Everyone, Forever'. We’re looking for a creative, networked expert to inspire us to think differently and to help deliver an audience-led approach to programmes, partnership, participation and interpretation.

What it's like to work here

In the South West region, you’ll be a member of a mixed team of internal consultants working with our properties to deliver fantastic experiences and building support across a wide range of audiences. As well as supporting sites in Devon you may also work in other places in the South West as needs and opportunities arise, to help deliver our strategic priorities. As part of our matrix way of working, you’ll form part of an organisation-wide network of curators who consist of both Experiences & Partnerships Curators and Cultural Heritage Curators.
We're committed to supporting a flexible working approach and to promoting a healthy work/life balance, so we are happy to discuss specific working patterns with you.

What you'll be doing

Our diverse and fascinating region presents wonderful opportunities to engage our audiences and grow support for our cause. Your role will be varied and include supporting the delivery of national programmes, contributing to a range of projects, and acting as a trusted advisor on everything linked to creating amazing experiences at our places.
You’ll lead, plan and coordinate key visitor engagement programmes across the South West region. You'll help us put audiences at the heart of our programming, creating dynamic and changing experiences, brokering commercial partnerships and coordinating the rollout of national programmes. You’ll work closely with all property teams to deliver the best visitor experiences for our audiences.
As part of the internal consultancy, you'll help ensure we provide the best possible service. You'll develop relationships with operational colleagues and stakeholders within and outside the region. Working with your Consultancy Manager, you'll use your visitor experience knowledge and skills to support ‘one team’ working across region, property and centre, identifying and attaining shared goals.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • Significant experience in delivering brilliant visitor experiences in a relevant sector.
  • Ability to build strong internal and external partnerships.
  • Significant experience in the development and coordination of visitor programming.
  • The ability to quickly develop strong, effective working relationships with colleagues across the organisation.

  • Strong consultancy skills, particularly active listening, stakeholder management and the ability to analyse and solve complex problems.
  • Experience in undertaking and commissioning audience research.
