We are recruiting a Night Duty Supervisor for 2023 Season to join our dedicated, friendly and professional team at our Stirling Youth Hostel, part of Central Group.

Just a short walk from historic Stirling Castle, our 4-star VisitScotland accredited Stirling Youth Hostel is great base to explore central Scotland with easy access to both Edinburgh and Glasgow via public transport

About the role:

You will be at the heart of our night time operation, providing overnight supervision, and health and safety and security of our guests, team members and the building during the night.

You will:

• Demonstrate initiatives by taking ownership in problem solving effectively and deal with emergency situation in a calm manner whilst identifying and applying the appropriate solution.
• Apply the appropriate fire evacuation procedures and fire safety within the Hostel, including safely evacuating guests and team members in the event of emergency.
• Keep the Group Manager and Duty Manager informed on a regular basis and report any incidents you deal with or involve in during the night clearly and accurately, including accidents, incidents, complaints. Also, report any needs for repairs or maintenance to the appropriate department or management ensuring the proper paperwork is carried out.
• Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with night duty checklists such as handling night cash-up, bed plans, laundry duties, nightly cleaning, security walks around the hostel and preparing the dining room for breakfast service.

Ideally suitable applicant will have:

• Worked successfully in a customer-facing role, preferably in similar hospitality surroundings with commitment to excellent customer service.
• Previous experience of night working and excellent understanding and application of health and safety, in particular, in respect of dealing with emergency situation during night.
• Excellent, confident communication skill and ability to work as team and without supervision.
• Experience in cash handling and good IT literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook and email)
• Experience in dealing with fire evacuation procedures.
• Keen attention to details.
• Flexible, ‘can-do’ attitude and adaptable approach to work to changing workload and priorities during busy times to support colleagues.

You will be part of a relatively small close-knit team. It is therefore essential that all members are capable and willing to support and respect each other, maintaining team morale to create a positive environment for both guest and employee
