What it's like to work here

Nunnington Hall is a wonderful property, nestled on the banks of the river Rye situated on the southern edge of the North York Moors, about 45 minutes north of York.

The gardens have been managed organically for over 20 years and we balance the need for high levels of garden presentation with the need to garden with nature in mind. The formal infrastructure is balanced with natural planting. The garden is well known for its wildflower meadows, traditional orchards, long mixed borders, Iris Garden and its productive ‘Cutting Garden’ growing seasonal produce and showcasing our composting systems.

As a key member of the garden team you will report directly to the Head Gardener and be working closely with the Gardener and the volunteer team. We are a close-knit property team working collaboratively to look after the special places we care for.

Nunnington hall is open to the public with historic rooms, a tearoom and a changeable programme of art exhibitions.

What you'll be doing

You'll support the existing garden team through the delivery of an exciting project to re-imagine and re-design the Iris Garden, a key part of Nunnington Hall’s Garden.

Working closely with the existing garden and visitor experience team to support in delivery of the garden design project as well as taking a key role in updating our garden interpretation, plant labelling and plant databasing.

Supporting on delivery of these projects as well as working closely with the Head Gardener, the gardener, and the volunteer team to maintain high levels of garden presentation and help in delivering key property events.
