Reception and Housekeeping Manager - YHA Snowdon Pen Y Pass

YHA Snowdon Pen Y Pass are looking to recruit a Reception and Housekeeping Manager for 25-42.5 hours per week on a live out basis.

 

 

Our Hostel is placed at the foot of Snowdon Mountain and is surrounded by stunning Welsh landscape in a rural location, with no mobile phone signal - offering people a break from technology. At over 1,182 feet above sea level, this former mountain lodge is ideally located for trails up Snowdon, so if you like the great outdoors and love to climb then we are a place that has it on our doorstep.

What will you be doing as a Reception and Accommodation Manager?

Our reception and housekeeping managers are responsible for the reception and housekeeping operation within the hostel and supporting the management of an operational budget and delivery of KPI’s as well as day to day management responsibility for their team. 

Your day-to-day duties may include:

  • leading the team to provide excellent and consistent levels of customer service to all guests and visitors,as well as ensuring cleanliness is to agreed YHA standards, giving them a great experience of YHA
  • assisting in rota planning to ensure correct levels of staffing in reception and housekeeping for the levels of customer business
  • monitor and control expenditure within the reception and housekeeping function, which includes ordering cleaning materials required as well as managing linen stock levels into and out from the hostel
  • cleaning in all areas of the hostel from bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and public areas
  • managing arrival and departure lists including those of large groups arriving or departing at the same time
  • supporting with a wide range of customer facing duties across the hostel, delivering an excellent service to all guests and visitors, giving them a great experience of YHA. 

Our reception and housekeeping managers may deputise for the Hostel/Deputy Manager, managing the hostel’s daily operation in their absence.

What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Reception and Accommodation Manager?

Our reception and housekeeping manager role requires flexibility to cover different shifts and tasks. It’s an advantage but not essential that our reception and housekeeping managers have worked in a face-to-face role with customers previously. Proven experience** of working with the hospitality industry would be advantageous including significant and significant experience of reception and  housekeeping best practice and front of house knowloedge, including the management and delivery of a quality service is essential. 

Qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 within Customer Services, Hospitality, Tourism (desirable), communication skills, excellent timekeeping and basic IT skills are advantages.  Experience with a variety of guests from individuals and families to larger groups would be an advantage, as well as a working knowledge of health and safety compliance requirements, e.g., COSHH along with excellent numeracy skills, computer literacy (mainly excel) and experience of managing a team is essential.

**We value lived experience just as much as previous skills and knowledge. We offer a robust induction, ongoing training, and further development, however, some of our roles will have further skills requirements.

Knowledge and understanding of YHA’s core purpose and experience of working in a team are beneficial.
