Golf Marshal - Redbourn Golf Club - St Albans, Hertfordshire

Hours: 24 hours per week (32 hours per week between April-Sept & 16 hours per week between Oct-March)

Salary: £13,044 per annum (averaged at 24 hours per week)

RESPONSIBLE TO: Head Professional/General Manager

SUPPORT: Group Retail & Golf Manager

VISION OF THE ROLE:

It is the ambition for all BGL clubs to be recognised as the best golf and leisure facility in their local area.

The Course Marshal role is a multifunctional position, although predominantly carrying out course marshal duties, the role may incorporate duties within Golf Reception, Driving Range and assisting with the delivery of the high presentation standards and service levels in all golf operation areas.

Flexibility is pivotal both in terms of cross department working and availability at busy times to meet the seasonal demands of the business.

SUMMARY OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Course Marshal is often the first point of contact for members and visitors to the club, as such the role is instrumental in delivering a memorable experience, both in terms of the welcome our members and visitors receive and the presentation standards of the club.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Health & Safety

  • Ensure a safe working environment by conforming to company Health and Safety regulations.
  • Adhere to all BGL company policies and procedures.
  • Keep up to date with all assigned training and compliance training on the BGL Academy.

Golf Reception Areas

  • Presentation standards of the first tee and surrounding areas.
  • Presentation standards, cleaning, and associated maintenance of buggies.
  • Presentation standards and cleaning of the rental trolleys.
  • Presentation and cleaning of shoe cleaning area.

Golf Course

  • Audit golfers prior to teeing off to ensure players are members or have paid the appropriate green fee.
  • Supply briefing on etiquette, rubbish bins, pitch marks, pace of play to all golfers on the first tee. (Refer to BGL Course Marshal crib sheet).
  • Monitor golfers on all courses to ensure all golfers stay up with pace of play.
  • Conduct course tours to check all golfers are members or have paid appropriate green fee.
  • During course tours the teeing areas are to be reviewed to ensure rubbish bins are clear, discarded tees are placed in bin, steps to tees are tidy and clear of debris and free of litter.
  • Notify players on the course in the event of dangerous weather conditions.
  • To be up to date with the local rules of the club

Hours of Work

Due to the seasonality of golf and opening hours there is a requirement for flexibility, hours to be agreed locally.
