Operational Risk Business Partner - Swindon

Summary

Imagine visiting and working at some of our amazing places, using your skills and experience to ensure they are looked after for ever, for everyone.

We’re looking for a new Business Partner to cover the South West of England Region.

The candidate will hold full a UK driving license and be willing to travel within their allotted area. This may involve overnight stays as and when required.

Your contractual location will be one of our regional hubs, however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree remote working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. The exact scope of the area you look after will be based upon where you live and the location of our current ORBP (Fire) colleagues.

What it's like to work here

We are more complicated than we appear and we’re larger scale than you’d imagine. We’ve got passionate people in all our teams, and we’ve got so much more we want to achieve. We’re for ever, for everyone and we really mean that. We want everyone to feel welcome and enjoy access to our places, so we need to reach new audiences in ways that are meaningful and relevant to them without losing the hearts and minds of those that are already with us.

What you'll be doing

You will be responsible for providing specialist fire safety advice on the ground to the properties you look after. You will enable operational staff to meet their fire safety and general compliance responsibilities.

You will work within your region to develop a pragmatic approach to fire safety so that each Property General Manager can determine and plan for mitigating actions. You will support General Managers and Property Heads of Departments as required to deliver that plan, not taking away accountability for compliance from the operating line.

You will report to a Senior Operational Risk Business Partner and will work closely with national specialists and others within the Operational Risk team.

Who we're looking for

You will have a relevant qualification in fire safety & fire risk assessment (e.g., Fire Protection Association, NEBOSH, Graduate of the Institute of Fire Engineers).

You will be listed on a nationally recognised register for fire risk assessors or have suitable comparable practical experience of fire risk assessing.

You will also have risk management expertise (especially fire risk) and comprehensive knowledge of the relevant legislative framework in particular the areas of fire and building regulations.

You will also have knowledge of completing fire risk assessments within a range of buildings including (but not limited to) offices, sleeping accommodation, retail and catering. Experience in the heritage sector would be beneficial, but not critical.

Of course, it is not just what you know, but how you share it. Practical and pragmatic, you must be able to understand wider organisational context, and be able to flex your approach to challenging heritage situations where a standard approach may not be feasible.

You should be able to demonstrate great influencing skills as well as the ability to build strong relationships – both internally and externally.
