What it's like to work here

You’ll be part of our property team of over 80 staff, working across all areas of operation in some outstanding places. National Trust owns and looks after 10% of the total area of the Isle of Wight, including 17 miles of coastline including Heritage Coast, many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and several unique historic properties and features.

No two days are likely to be the same – your ‘base’ will be our estate office in Mottistone, but one day could be photographing at Mottistone Gardens, perhaps the next capturing the stories surrounding The Needles Old battery, another exploring a piece of seasonal visitor experience programming on the Newtown National Nature Reserve, or few days out with our rangers looking at our countryside and nature restoration work or on water with the Harbourmaster.

You’ll be flexible hybrid working at all of our sites, out and about collaborating closely with a wide range of internal and external contacts on and off Island, as well as working from home.

What you'll be doing

You’ll lead on the development and delivery of the Isle of Wight Marcomms plan, which covers all the Island portfolio. Planning is important for us, especially with continuing uncertainty all around, and where we strive to adapt to fluctuating seasonal visitor profiles and adjust to most benefit as a major UK tourist destination.

But you’ll also make sure that we deliver our plans, and that we’ve got great content to feed in to our digital and social media channels, linking our visit driving work with our countryside nature conservation effort and purpose as a charity.

You’ll do all this working with a great team of staff and volunteers with huge knowledge and passion, and through living our National Trust values.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • Practical experience in a Marcomms lead role or in some aspects of leading marketing or communications
  • Experience of developing and implementing marketing and communications plans
  • Proven track record in creating, using, and editing content in different channels (web, social media, email, graphic design and photography)
  • Ability to spot potential risks to reputation and raise them accordingly
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to influence, advise and negotiate at all levels within the organisation and with external agencies
  • A good understanding of the importance of online presence and ways to promote visits to our website and social media channels
  • A creative approach to reaching both new and existing audiences
To apply, please be sure to read all the attached additional information and apply with an up-to-date CV and covering letter explaining how you meet the requirements of the role.
