Welcome & Service Assistant - Church Stretton, Shropshire

Working within a bustling atmosphere as part of passionate team, you'll play a core part in providing fantastic customer service.

The Hours: Flexible hours to be discussed at interview with a variety of shift patterns available. The role will require weekend hours but again we would discuss your availability upon successful completion of your application. You'll likely be working 7.5 - 15 hours per week, in our low season and up to 30 hours at peak times and to cover leave and sickness where needed.

What it's like to work here

The Welcome Team here at Carding Mill valley is the first face of the National Trust when visitors arrive. It could be a simple 'hello, good morning', with a warm welcome. You’ll be checking memberships, taking payment for parking from non-member visitors and enjoying a varied day that may include keeping the countryside free of litter, engaging with visitors and talking about the value and benefits of the different ways they can support us and the ongoing conservation work we do here. You will report to the Welcome Manager day to day.

Covering as much as 2,000 hectares of heather-covered hills with stunning views of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Welsh hills, this is an important place for wildlife, geology and archaeology. There are paths for walking, cycling and horse riding, you can even drive to the top of the hill to take in the views. In Carding Mill Valley there are excellent visitor facilities including a tea-room, shop and car parking.

What you'll be doing

As the largest conservation charity in Europe we work hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to care for all the heritage in our trust. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent service to all our visitors, every day. As a Welcome & Service Assistant, it’s your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day.

You’ll be responsible for answering queries and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit. Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. Working with our spirit of place you’ll work with the visitor welcome team to link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do.
