Senior Communications & Marketing Officer - York

Summary

This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic marketing and communications person to join our teams within our North Yorkshire and Tees Valley portfolio. As Senior Communications and Communications Officer, you’ll lead the development and delivery of the Communications and Marketing plan in line with our national strategy. You’ll be responsible for promoting our special places within the portfolio creatively and effectively.

You'll join us on a permanent part time (30 hours per week) contract. Every day will be different – your 'base' can be at either Nunnington Hall or Ormesby Hall, but you'll cover the whole portfolio, spending time working with colleagues at other sites when required.

If you have any questions about this role please contact: Laura.Kennedy@nationaltrust.org.uk

Interviews will take place 3rd April March at either Nunnington Hall or Ormesby Hall.

What it's like to work here

You'll be working with teams across multiple sites, volunteers and regional consultancy colleagues, who all have a shared passion for the work of the National Trust.

The North Yorkshire and Tees Valley portfolio includes Ormesby Hall, Middlesbrough; Nunnington Hall, Helmsley, Rievaulx Terrace, Helmsley and the North York Moors (including Roseberry Topping) and an 11-mile stretch of the Yorkshire Coastline.

Despite the size of the portfolio, you will be part of a close-knit property team and will gain a real insight and understanding of the work we are doing to look after these special places and help to share that with the thousands of visitors who enjoy these places in all seasons.

You'll work closely with our property teams, especially our visitor experience officers at Ormesby Hall and Nunnington Hall. You'll also be part of a wider network of Yorkshire and North East marcomms property colleagues and work closely with our regional marcomms team in the regional consultancy.

What you'll be doing

As part of a dynamic and energetic team, you will have the opportunity to make a difference every day, using your specialist knowledge, skills and experience to share content internally and externally.

By connecting people to our places, you will reach audiences by creating content for our website, engaging social media and targeted email marketing, and identifying and sharing newsworthy stories with the media and our partners. You'll help to achieve our business and charitable targets by driving the marketing and communication plan.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

•          Practical experience in a marketing and communications role

•          Experience of developing and implementing marketing and communications plans

•          Proven track record in creating, using and editing content in different channels (web, social media, PR, email)

•          Ability to spot potential risks to reputation and escalate them accordingly

•          Have excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to influence, advise and negotiate at all levels within the organisation and with external agencies

•          Strong understanding of the importance of online presence and ways to promote visits to our website and social media channels

•          A creative approach to reaching both new and existing audiences

•          Advanced IT Skills (including Microsoft Office).
