More about the role:
  • Ensure that staff maintain high standards of hygiene in areas of direct control
  • Ensure that Medirest A&E team report for duty in good time are promoting a high standard of personal grooming, wearing the correct uniform and, following STHK Infection Prevention Control Policy
  • Staff are to take meal orders at agreed times for the service
  • Take ownership of the procurement and effective management of catering and cleaning stock, and materials
  • Plan staff rotas and agree annual leave requests in conjunction with the Domestic/Catering Managers
  • Monitor standards and seek continuous improvement in service delivery to provide a safe environment for patients' visitor and staff
  • Ensure that the A&E department and kitchen areas are kept clean, and tidy, at all times
  • Ensure that food is satisfactorily prepared as per Company standards and served promptly
  • Proactively address any shortfall in standards and elevate as appropriate through remedial action
  • Undertake on-the-job training as necessary, to maintain and improve standards as identified
  • Ensure that correct procedures are undertaken in relation to the use and cleaning of all catering and domestic machinery. Cleaning schedules are to be adhered to.
  • Maximise and promote customer satisfaction through the prompt resolution of customer complaints / requests, encouraging feedback on service received
  • Monitor the strict meal temperature control methods in line with the Compass Food Safety Management system.
  • ST1 forms to be completed correctly, as per training to ensure that all food is kept at the correct temperature with the use by date, and information clearly documented on temperature control sheets
  • Knowledgeable of the daily A&E menu choice, including accompaniments to be referred to

  • Maintenance issues to be reported as identified
  • Medirest sickness absence procedure is to be applied and adhered to
  • Report any accidents or near misses as per procedure and complete the Compass Incident Pack as required
  • Comply with all Health and Safety training and legislation which is laid out in the Company's Health and Safety training, (COSSH and training procedures to be adhered to)
  • Develop good lines of communication and relationships at all levels within your team and with other colleagues, stakeholders, patients, and visitors
  • Be flexible in all other duties and areas responsible to the needs of the service and maintain clear lines of communication to encourage good working relationships
  • Perform any reasonable and practical instructions as requested by the Manager, appropriate to the needs of service requirements
  • Follow security guidance and procedures for the area as directed
  • All training to be recorded within information retained on training database
  • New starters reviews to be undertaken and recorded at 6 and 11 weekly intervals
Who you are:

To assist in the smooth running of the Domestics and Catering A&E Department through the supervision of staff and relevant processes within the areas of cleaning and patient feeding. To provide and monitor the catering and cleaning service to the patients, reporting directly to the Domestic Manager.

  • Hold a Level 3 Food Safety certificate is essential
  • To possess good verbal and written communication skills in order
  • Recent experience of working within a food service role
  • Ability to achieve and deliver high standards of customer care
  • Organise day-to-day work tasks for catering and domestic assistants
  • Provide a weekly rota for Medirest staff that work within the A&E department
