About the Role:

The Sales Manager is based primarily in Opera Grill Chester, with responsibility for pre-booked sales and revenue, and events. You will be expected to be the face of the business in the local community - driving revenue, holding and selling events, establishing key connections with party bookers and recruiting new customers, as well as capturing return business through great client relationships.

About the Key Responsibilities:

Sales

  • Hit monthly targets for occupancy and revenue.
  • Work with Operations and Marketing to drive sales in quieter sessions, such as lunch offers and bounce back initiatives.
  • Deal with all large party enquiries, converting and driving maximum revenue.
  • Carry out regular competitor analysis to ensure effective and competitive pricing strategies for PDRs and group bookings.
  • Sell private hire options and area hire regularly and efficiently with appropriate minimum spends and packages to become an integral part of the venue’s revenue.
  • Know your products – have a thorough understanding of the menus, the venue, and the brand.
  • Drive incremental revenue through sales of pre-agreed packages and menus.

Business Development

  • Be the face of the business, attending local network events, making connections in venue and hosting internal events.
  • Look for appropriate local sales and marketing initiatives for the venue to be involved in, for example, exhibits, local sponsorship opportunities, food and drink festivals.
  • Plan and conduct weekly outreach to increase bookings and raise the profile of the venue in the local area.
  • Work closely with any local networking groups such as the Chamber of Commerce to ensure a presence within all their digital activity and stay ahead of competition.
  • Identify and build strong relationships with all key party bookers and PAs in the local community.
  • Build and maintain great relationships with appropriate third-party agencies/concierge services and ensure we are first choice for their clients.

Events

  • Create a calendar of events for the venue, both for key dates and down time.
  • Ensure all events held are profitable, can be delivered smoothly operationally, and are well attended.
  • Upload event details and bookable CTAs on all appropriate platforms.
  • Work with Marketing to ensure maximum lead time and promotion for event sign ups and ticket sales.
  • Find suitable brand partners to add value to events in venue.
  • Evaluate all events with Operations to improve on all processes for subsequent events.
  • Determine that the events are on brand and worthwhile before executing.
  • Encourage all attendees to share event attendance on their social channels, particularly LinkedIn and Instagram.

Data

  • Create a corporate/key contact database to be contacted directly and communicate with these guests on a personal basis.
  • Gather weekly feedback from bookings and monitor for themes or concerns.
  • Drive loyalty sign ups as appropriate.

Systems and Reporting

  • Comprehensively understand the booking system and guest journey throughout the bookings process to ensure maximum occupancy and the best customer experience.
  • Make regular checks on the booking journey for each venue and group size.
  • Make recommendations for improvements and implement as directed.
  • Report weekly and monthly figures to Line Manager as agreed.
  • Complete monthly trackers and report back on KPIs.
  • Have regular meetings with GMs to maintain excellent communication.

People

  • Build great relationships with the in-venue team and across the wider business.
  • Support the Operations team on key dates and events.
  • Liaise with other departments to create holistic processes from marketing activity to group packages.
