Service Assistant - Cockermouth

Summary

Working within the Welcome Area you'll be joining a small and passionate team. The role of Service Assistant plays a core part in providing fantastic customer service. Do you enjoy helping people and have a genuine enthusiasm to make everyone welcome?

The Hours: The successful candidates will work between 2 to 3 days a week to a rota, which includes weekends and bank holidays.

The Salary: £9.60 an hour

Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 10th November 2023

Interviews: Will be held provisionally the week commencing 13th February.

The pay for this role will lift to a minimum of £10.42 on 1st April 2023 in line with the changes to the Government National Living Wage.



What it's like to work here

Wordsworth House and Garden, in the Cumbrian town of Cockermouth, is the birthplace and childhood home of romantic poet William and his sister Dorothy. The house is presented as it would have been when they lived there with their parents in the 1770s. The successful candidates will join the hard working team who are keen to share their passion with visitors to this Georgian Town house today.

What you'll be doing

Visitors are a vital part of what we do. As the Service Assistant it’s your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day. In this role, you’ll be;

  • Working alongside a small staff team and volunteers in delivering outstanding customer service across the property
  • Working in our Welcome Area admitting visitors to the property, providing information and orientation
  • Working on our property till selling admission tickets, processing payments of activities and events and promoting our Growing Support strategy (Memberships/Donations/Fundraising)
  • Promote events, offers, products and benefits of actively supporting the National Trust
  • Support in the delivery of events at times throughout the year
  • Support across the property/portfolio when required
