Welcome & Service Assistant - Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

Summary

We're looking for people who want to work as part of our passionate Lyveden Welcome teams as Welcome & Service Assistants. You'll play a core part in providing fantastic customer service, great welcome for visitors and help us grow support for the work we do at Lyveden.

You'll work sporadically throughout the month until the end of your contract in February 2024. Whilst shifts won’t be every weekend, it is important to know that there is a high amount of weekend and bank holiday working. That’s when the most visitors are about and that’s when you can make the biggest impact.
What it's like to work here

Reporting to our Welcome Manager, you'll be the face of our operation outdoors, and you will have lots of opportunities to work with and for people. Our visitors are at the heart of what we do and we want everyone to feel welcome at our places and we need your help as a Welcome & Service Assistant to do that.

Set in the heart of rural Northamptonshire, Lyveden is a remarkable survivor of the Elizabethan age. Begun by Sir Thomas Tresham to symbolise his Catholic faith, Lyveden remains incomplete and virtually unaltered since work stopped on his death in 1605. Visitors can discover the mysterious garden lodge and explore the Elizabethan garden with its spiral mounts, terracing and canals.

What you'll be doing

As the largest conservation charity in Europe we work hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to care for all the heritage in our trust. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent service to all our visitors, every day. As a Welcome & Service Assistant, it’s your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day.

You’ll be responsible for answering queries and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit. Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. Working with our spirit of place you’ll work with the Visitor Welcome team to link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do. You'll be taking payments, selling memberships, litter picking, and maintaining a clean reception area.

You’ll deliver high standards of presentation at the property, and ensure all our communications with our visitors are clear and consistent, from the first click on the website, to the posters and signs around the property.
