What it's like to work here

We are a relatively small property, with a friendly atmosphere, run by a small, dedicated staff team and wider volunteer support. You'll be working within the House and Collections Team, reporting to the Collections and House Officer. You'll primarily be working by yourself, as part of the wider team.

The Workhouse and Infirmary is an unusual National Trust property focussing on the social history of the poor, giving a voice to their stories and experiences. It is a complex place that challenges us to reconsider how we care for all in our communities today. With many connections to important contemporary questions surrounding welfare and inequality, it is an exciting time to be joining the team.
What you'll be doing

As a General Cleaner, you'll go out of your way for others and you’ll help to make our property an extra special place to visit. You’ll turn your practical hand to all sorts of cleaning, ensuring all our facilities are kept in good working order. You’ll ensure the highest standards of customer service across the property by always implementing a ‘customer comes first’ attitude.

Your regular tasks will include cleaning toilets and the office and staff areas. We'd also like you to keep an eye out and report any repairs or odd jobs that need doing along with restocking cleaning supplies.
