People Policy and Strategy Manager - Head Office Building & Support


GLL is looking for a Policy and Strategy Manager to work at our office in Woolwich. If you have the skills and ambition to join us as a Policy and Strategy Manager, there's never been a more exciting time to join us as this is a fantastic opportunity to join our leadership team.

 

The PPS Manager is a member of the People Leadership Team reporting to the People Director. The People Policy & Strategy Manager is a senior specialist and strategic role with no direct line management responsibilities.

 

The key areas of responsibility include:

Keeping abreast of developments in law and good practice and ensuring that developments are reflected in organisation people policies

Play a lead part in developing a new People Strategy that supports the Corporate Plan.

Contributing to organisation design strategies, including design principles and models for delivery across the business;

Being an expert source for the BP and senior management team to check policy and procedure interpretation and employment law.

Providing guidance on the most complex individual employee relations issues;

Supporting national consultations with trade unions,

Developing the people and employee relations management skills of managers by supporting training design and internal tutors;

Communicating employment law updates and supporting professional development for the People Business Partner and leadership team.

 

What you need:

First degree in HR

Minimum Chartered MCIPD qualified

Master's degree in HR, or other relevant advanced degree (Desirable)

Coaching qualification (Desirable)

Comprehensive and current knowledge of UK and European employment legislation and case law.

Up-to-date, extensive & proven experience of employment law & managing disciplinary, grievance absence management and other complex employee relations case work.

Relevant, proven experience, in a stand-alone role as a senior HR professional in a commercially driven organisation.

Proven experience working in a complex organisation that requires detail orientation, sound judgment and strong analytical skills.

Experience of planning, developing and leading the full range of ER change management programmes including: organisational restructures, TUPE transfers, and redeployment and redundancy exercises.

Experience of coaching managers and designing and delivering HR based training courses.
