We’re looking for a Day Centre Manager to help us bring our vision and mission to life at our inspiring locations at the heart of Epping Forest and sites across London including in three of London’s Royal Parks.

What you’ll be doing

The Day Centre Manager is a key operational and leadership role. You’ll work closely with the Head of Education and Operations to ensure the effective running of the centre, making sure that all activities are in line with the Field Studies Council 2025 vision and strategy.

You’ll be joining a diverse and motivated team committed to providing outstanding environmental education learning experiences for young people, schools, colleges as well as enthusiasts and professionals. Your role will be to develop and lead your team, ensuring that they are performing to their highest potential with a focus on delivering excellent customer service.

As part of your overall responsibility for the centre, you’ll work with the Head of Education and Operations to ensure effective systems are managed that include delivery of high quality education experiencesbudgeting, health and safety, delivery standards.

Who we’re looking for

You will bring your experience of managing a key function such as Education, Site Management, Hospitality and Catering or experience of working in an education environment. You may already have experience of managing a centre or an education provision, but transferable skills, the right attitude and commitment is equally valued.

You’ll be a strong people manager who can demonstrate effective leadership skills and have experience of leading customer focused service delivery.

An ILM 5/HNC/HND/NVQ Level 4 or Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject is essential.

You are required to hold a full UK Driving Licence for use in the UK to enable travel between sites as needed.

Where you’ll be based

Field Studies Council Epping Forest is situated in the heart of Epping Forest, an area of around 2,400 hectares of wood-pasture, stretching from Manor Park in East London to just north of Epping in Essex. Two thirds of the Forest have been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The purpose built, fully accessible Centre has 6 classrooms, and associated facilities, with direct access into our teaching sites which include woodland, grassland, heath and river. Most of our teaching sites are fully accessible. The Centre is just a few minutes from the M25 and Loughton Tube Station.

Field Studies Council London offers a range of courses across the Capital City, using inspiring and exciting natural and built sites across London including Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Stratford, The Royal Parks, Beckenham Place Park and Urban locations including Kings Cross. At our sites in The Royal Parks (Bushy Park, Greenwich Park and The Regent’s Park) and Beckenham Place Park, we have classrooms and facilities. Through working at a wide range of sites, we offer courses that suit customer’s needs. All our teaching sites are fully accessible and are located near tube or train stations, which enable schools to access free transport.
