Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to assist in leading the day-to-day running of the Welcome Team at Corfe Castle. This position is offered on a full time, fixed term contract, for a 9 month period for internal applicants only, and can be offered as a secondment. Working pattern to be discussed but will require regular weekend & bank holiday working with flexibility needed to cover holidays within the management team. This position is referred to locally as an Assistant Welcome Manager.

What you'll be doing

You'll work alongside another Assistant Manager, and report to the G8 Welcome Manager. You'll assist in leading the day to day running of the Welcome Department working with a team of assistants, ensuring we give a consistently high level of visitor service. 

You'll lead the team in our Growing Support Strategy, promoting our membership and GAOE. In the absence of the Welcome Manager, you will, on occasion, act as the most senior person on site. You'll lead and empower the team to respond to customer enquiries and site issues and be the face of the National Trust. You'll be experienced in leading people, delivering outstanding customer service and have a sound understanding of risk management.

You'll have responsibility for the team, their safety and working practices, working closely with the Welcome Manager. You'll have responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the welcome area. You'll ensure the delivery of the highest standards of service and visitor experience, using sound judgement and decision making, in line with National Trust guidelines and policies. You will use your creativity and communication skills to inspire and motivate staff and volunteers, and to help provide the friendly face of the National Trust to 250,000 visitors annually. You'll be applying your high level of competence to deal with service recovery without senior support being on site. You'll engage with all our visitors to inspire support through membership and help visitors to enjoy their stay.



Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • Good practical experience in visitor business,in tourist, heritage or relevant visitor services environment
  • Naturally curious about people, and with a passion to and experience of delivering the highest standards of customer service
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Confident leader, adaptable and responsive under pressure
  • Ability to initiate service recovery without senior support
  • Good IT skills (all MS Office)
