Prep Chef - Brighton
The Flour Pot Bakery is a family owned independent artisan bakery in Portslade (Brighton & Hove), specialising in long fermented sourdough, yeasted breads and viennoiserie. We serve our own Flour Pot shops across East Sussex and a growing wholesale customer base that appreciate the best quality handcrafted products.
We are looking for a Prep Chef to join our friendly team. From our production kitchen comes a range of savoury goods, from sausage rolls to vegan pastries, salads and filled focaccia rolls. Our sweet section specialises in cutting cakes, cookies, tarts, traybakes, etc.
We are looking for someone that has some experience in food preparation whether from a hotel background, restaurants, pubs or another established catering company. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a similar role, have the skills and experience to help in production on all sections required.
This role has sociable hours (6am start, no evening / night work) and no doubles. This is a great opportunity to join an artisan kitchen and expand your knowledge and career in a well respected company.
Your duties will involve assisting in various housekeeping duties:
- Sandwich preparation/ assembly
- Viennoiserie preparation/ assembly
- Making sausage rolls
- Preparation of sweet products
- Hard working
- Physically able to carry out the duties as some lifting will be required
- Have a great attitude towards other team members and the role
- Excellent command of written and spoken English as a large part of the role will rely on this.
This is a great opportunity to work in a busy artisan kitchen and bakery, and we would expect you to have bags of enthusiasm and energy. Availability to work at weekends is expected. You must have your own transport or be able to get here easily by public transport. The potential to learn other skills for the right applicant could well be available to the right candidates.
