The Hilton Birmingham Metropole is undergoing a transformational refurbishment, every element of the hotel, a key UK Conference Destination, is being transformed. The hotel is recruiting for an Event Planning Manager who will play a key role within the hotel to plan events with the WOW Factor!  This is an ideal opportunity for an individual to take their first steps from operations to commercial. The Event Planning Manager will manage the Event Planning Office Team to deliver results and effective and efficient event planning, whilst developing relationships to earn repeat and expanded business. 

Summer 2022 will see a fantastic celebration of sport and culture when the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the largest event ever held in the West Midlands, takes place. We are looking for an Event Planning Manager to join us as we work to help make this event a huge success.

What will I be doing?

As Events Planning Manager, you will manage the Event Planning office to develop current and repeat business by developing contracted business.  The Events Planning Manager will interact frequently with customers and Guests to learn about their needs and develop relationships from which to earn repeat and expanded business. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Maximise revenues and spend per head opportunities from all Events
  • Manage the department's day-to-day operations and activities, whereas implementation of the selling strategy yields meetings and events space
  • Review business plans, identify gaps and ensure proactive efforts to fill capacity and meet set targets
  • Contribute to the selling strategy of the hotel, and manage the departments' adherence to achieving that strategy
  • Understand the competitive market place and implement approaches to ensure the hotel stays ahead in the local market
  • Ensure the highest standards of Event Management are in place including building relationships with new/existing customers in order to secure rollover business
  • Ensure the Event Planners are developed effectively and generate a culture of high quality standards for relationship building, customer service, selling techniques, and billing and processing contracts
  • Build strong relationships with customers, Guests and Team Members in order to gain full understanding of their needs and work to serve them effectively
  • Assist in the recruiting, managing, training and developing of the Team
  • Participate in the organisation of hotel promotional activities
  • Proactively review and evaluate existing processes, identifying and implementing new and innovative ways of working, ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness at all times
