Private Water Supply Project Manager - Ambleside

Summary

***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE***

*Internal Applicants only

Our colleagues work for the National Trust in many locations and sometimes don't have easy access to internal vacancy listings. Using the internet ensures we can reach as many of our colleagues as possible. We appreciate that this can be frustrating for external talent. Do note that some roles are released externally after an initial period of time.

We’re looking for a Project Manager with experience of working with Private Water Supplies, and an understanding of the regulatory framework surrounding them, to join our Cumbria and North Lancashire based Let Estate Whole Trust Delivery Team. You’ll be working with our properties in the Lake District National Park to lead on and deliver a range of projects relating to our Private Water Supply network.

What it's like to work here

Working as part of the Let Estate Whole Trust Delivery Team in Cumbria and North Lancashire, you’ll be leading and managing small, medium and large projects relating to our Private Water Supply network. Reporting to a Senior Let Estate Building Surveyor, you’ll be part of a team of Estate Management specialists working in the Lake District National Park. We're proud to care for over 20% of the Lake District National Park, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, that includes 90 farms, around 200 houses and various other property types all of varying ages, significance and character.
You'll be part of a very busy team consisting of Estate Managers, Rural Surveyors, Senior Building Surveyors, Buildings Supervisors, Estate Management Officers and a skilled in hand buildings team including a specialist Private Water Supply Engineer and Plumber.
You’ll be working on a hybrid basis with your official base at the Grasmere Regional Hub. Based on the needs of your projects you’ll split your time between properties, regional hub or working from home. You’ll be required to travel across the region as necessary to service the projects you are managing.

What you'll be doing

The Lake District has a high number of private water supplies affecting over 150 properties. The Private water supplies (PWS) are monitored by five different Local Authorities under the Private Water Supplies (England) Regulations. You'll be responsible for dealing with any regulatory compliance issues and for the preparation of a long term costed plan to secure the sustainability of our properties connected to our private water supply network. Once approved you'll be responsible for the implementation of the identified projects. You'll help keep track of deadlines, manage risk, and work to deliver at pace, within budget and in line with any regulatory requirements.
You’ll take responsibility for ensuring you maintain systems and records in accordance with the National Trust Project Management Framework. You'll be a central point of contact for Local Authorities and all other regulatory bodies regarding our private water supply network.
You'll also review our existing servicing and maintenance regimes to ensure these are efficient and effective in mitigating any risks as well as being aligned to the objectives of the long term project plan.
