Senior Project Officer - Stamford Bridge, London

DEPARTMENT:  Chelsea FC Foundation, Community Programmes

REPORTING TO: Gareth Davies, Social Inclusion Manager

JOB FUNCTION: To manage delivery of all youth inclusion programmes. Creating diversionary activities away from criminal activity and anti-social behaviour by offering participants safer and stronger communities, to play sport, be active and gain accreditations.  

DIRECT REPORTS: Youth Inclusion Officers/Coordinators and Sessional workers

LOCATION: Stamford Bridge, Fulham Road, London, SW6 1HS

CONTRACT: Permanent Contract, 40 hours per week, any 5 of 7 days (including evenings, weekends, and anti-social hours). 

PLAY YOUR PART (Main Responsibilities):

  • Oversee the delivery of all youth inclusion programmes including the line management of associated officers and sessional staff ensuring all schemes fulfil the funder’s requirements.
  • Ensure all youth inclusion programmes are delivered within budget, and records of all project spend is collated in accordance with the funder’s requirements.
  • Develop and deliver diversionary schemes of work that improve life choices of pertinent children and young people living in areas of multiple deprivation or at risk of offending behaviour.
  • Build relationships with key community partners, charities, schools, youth services, grass root providers, NGB’s and local authority for the benefit of all youth inclusion programmes. Collaborating with Disability Inclusion Senior Officer and Crime Intervention Senior Officer to ensure the programme is meeting the local population need.
  • Work with London Social Inclusion Manager to identify development opportunities and service gaps within existing youth inclusion programmes, subsequently approaching suitable partners and/or funders.  Including writing funding applications.
  • Attend Local Strategic Partnership meetings to raise awareness of local provision, and network to enhance new funding opportunities.

HERE TO WIN (Measures of Performance):

  • Responsible for quality assurance of the programme ensuring the needs of each partner are met.
  • Regular monitoring of staff performance and development to ensure all are working towards meeting programme objectives and KPI’s.
  • Lead on all aspects of monitoring and evaluation responsibilities in accordance with the needs of each funder, including liaison with the Premier League as an experienced ‘Salesforce’ user.
  • Be the Safeguarding Lead for the Youth Inclusion programme, liaising with associated partner Safeguarding Team’s to ensure a clear line of reporting to CFC Safeguarding Hub.
  • Ensure success stories are captured through working with Chelsea FC Foundation/Chelsea FC media staff.
  • Complete and submit project reports at 6-month intervals, or as and when required internally or in accordance with the needs of each funder.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Relevant professional and/or academic qualifications or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the industry sector.
  • Youth Worker Level 2 Qualification or working towards.
  • FA Coaching Qualification, Emergency Aid and Safeguarding Children Certificates. 
  • Ability to travel to activity & meetings across London and surrounding areas / Clean Driving License 

Desirable 

  • Level 2 Sports Coaching Qualification  
  • A master’s degree in an associated subject area. 
  • Youth Worker Level 3 Qualification.
  • Teaching or mentoring Qualifications.

Experience:

  • A strong knowledge of and experience working in community engagement programmes specifically tailored to the provision of at risk young people and marginalised groups.
  • Have a good understanding of current youth services and charities across London, be able to signpost participants accordingly, and build partnerships.
  • Knowledge of Community Club Organisations and Football Charity Programmes.
  • Knowledge of M&E and quality assurance programmes relevant to the industry sector
  • Knowledge of local demographic and social needs.

Skills and Behaviours:

  • Ability to manage own timetable to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to manage full time and sessional staff members and to delegate work appropriately.
  • Good interpersonal skills with people at all levels, including colleagues, young people, parent/guardians, community partners and professionals
  • A solution focused problem solver who is confident to seek advice when necessary.
