The Hertsmere launched in December 2021 as a newly invested golf facility near Elstree, Hertfordshire. Our vision is to be the most inclusive, family friendly and appealing place inspiring a new generation to ‘Get into Golf’ by attracting and retaining long term pay and play customers and leisure guests to a modern forward thinking golf experience.

The Hertsmere has a mature 18-hole golf course, a short game practice facility supported by a best in class 26-bay driving range powered by Toptracer Range. Our range also has an indoor golf performance studio with the custom club fitting facility of the global golf equipment manufacturer Srixon.

In addition to the golf facilities, our modern Clubhouse is undergoing a redesign and refit to provide a contemporary café, bar and restaurant, supporting a Food Shack located on the driving range to enhance the family friendly inclusive golf. It is our intention to create a leisure and food destination to be enjoyed by golfers and non-golfers alike.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Sales and Marketing professional to join our fast-growing team to drive our disruptive business model targeting existing and new entrants to the pay and play golf. We have a fast growth strategy combined with the resource and ambition to make The Hertsmere the best in class for its area. We now need the right person to join our team to help us make that happen and help drive their career forward.

Role Requirements and Deliverables

Responsible for growing The Hertsmere’s own “Get into Golf’ experience, through focussed events, promoting our new Golf Academy business based in our state-of-the-art driving range. Work closely with our management team with a dual core focus on direct customer prospecting/networking as well as digital marketing initiatives. You will be directly responsible for driving sales growth and revenue generation across three core business areas of the driving range, golf course and events.

Create and optimising a range of innovative events to meet agreed monthly and annual sales targets. This will involve creative thinking and execution of targeted events, prospecting new business clients and converting all generated sales leads into revenue. This will involve a mixture of telesales, digital marketing face to face meetings and networking. It will be required that you maintain a good knowledge of all our services and actively upsell to our customers and provide a solution based quotation to all prospects.

Lead on creating and transitioning enquiries seamlessly over to our operations team for event and experience execution, demonstrating excellent customer service through every element of the journey, utilising strong interpersonal and teamworking skills. Prepare event documentation and coordinate with all relevant departments and the customer to ensure consistent, high levels of service from pre-event planning through to post event follow up.

Working with a digital marketing agency, you will create and manage regular targeted email marketing campaigns as well as creating the content for social media posts. A key focus will be to support our growth strategies aimed at bringing women and girl’s into golf. Analysis of marketing spend v sales performance will be required to execute our exciting growth business strategy.

Ensure the quality of the prospect and customer data is maintained and up to date, you will develop sales opportunities as well as profiling and targeting segments for specific events in liaison with our digital marketing agency and ultimately the operational team.

The candidate will be required to work some weekends and evenings as needed by the business due to the nature of the social side of golf and events. This role will be required to reactively support operations for events as well as administration.

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • A proven track record in delivering sales revenue streams and meeting / exceeding targets
  • Marketing / social media and digital marketing with an understanding of Google Analytics
  • Working experience of CRM database software
  • A process driven approach to meetings and event management
  • Golf, sports, leisure or hotel sector experience is required

Skills and Knowledge

  • A starter finisher with sales and contract negotiation skills
  • Customer development and relationship management skills
  • Microsoft Office intermediate skills – are a minimum requirement
  • Strong organisation skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask
  • Knowledge of contract management and legalities highly desirable
  • Knowledge of event technology products and services
  • Strong problem-solving skills ,encouraging new innovative solutions when appropriate
  • An interest in golf highly desirable
