Freelance Outdoor and Adventure Learning Instructor (Self-Employed) - Grange-Over-Sands, Cumbria

Pay Rate:  £120 - £150 per day

Location: Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria

Freelance Opportunity

FSC Castle Head is a large residential environmental learning centre in a beautiful location at the foot of the Lake District national park where it is our specialist centre for environmental field work and delivery of outdoor activities.

We are looking to register up to 10 self-employed freelance Outdoor and Adventure Learning Instructors for our 2022 season beginning in March to support the delivery of adventure activities engaging and enthusing students and assisting FSC achieve its goal of ‘Bringing Environmental Understanding to All Through First-hand Experience’.  

The groups, of typically 12 participants, led by the Instructors are:

• Primary aged students (8 – 11 year olds),
• Secondary aged students (12 – 18 year olds),
• University students

The activities could be:

• hill walking;
• canoeing;
• rock climbing;
• high ropes;
• raft building:
• ghyll scrambling.

You will have the ability to provide an appropriate standard of care for our learners and be able to demonstrate previous experience of delivering some or all of the activities above.

To successfully register with us you need to hold:

• At least 1 NGB qualification;
• A D1 minibus driving license;
• A valid first aid qualification (2 day or more);
• Public liability insurance. 

Being freelance in nature, work will be offered on an occasional, ad hoc basis as business need dictates, therefore the availability of work will vary.
