GENERAL MANAGER

Based: Templemore Baths  

Starting salary : 35,030.40 per annum

 

Templemore is part of the Leisure Transformation Programme (LTP) and is a ten-year programme of investment designed to completely transform how it delivers leisure services across Belfast. Belfast City Council is currently delivering the redevelopment of Templemore Baths to include the complete restoration of the current baths alongside a brand-new leisure focused extension.

Templemore Baths is a 17m redevelopment leisure facility in East Belfast and will create a sustainable, long term leisure facility that will preserve and enhance the surviving original features of the landmark building and extend its footprint to provide modern-day leisure facility.

The building will combine a restored Templemore baths heritage learning and engagement facility, focusing on the history of the baths and surrounding areas, with a modern leisure facility- including the existing pool / learner pool, a new 25 metre, six lane pool with moveable floor and spectator seating, an 80 station gym, spa facility and caf.

The redevelopment of the Baths is currently well underway. The construction and restoration of the leisure element of the project is currently programmed to complete in Autumn 2022. It is currently envisaged that the new leisure element of the facility will open in Autumn 2022 with the interpretive element opening in early 2023 following fit out.

As General Manager, you'll have a big part to play in that, as you focus on shaping a clear strategic framework to deliver our operational and financial targets - all whilst forging even stronger links with our business and community partners. It's a role that offers huge variety. So, as well as enjoying a hands-on management role, some of your time will be desk-based, as you ensure compliance and support the administration involved in running a busy leisure centre.

 

Naturally, we have safety procedures in place - but ultimately, you're given the freedom, support and training to run your centre as your own and drive innovation as you see fit. As General Manager, you'll thrive on the autonomy to manage your own time too, all with the support of a wider head office function including HR, finance, marketing and IT teams.

 

Continuing your strong track record of achieving big business objectives, product growth and excellent customer service, you'll be a real people-person with a leisure degree or equivalent experience, and deep knowledge of leisure centre operations. Expertly handling a budget, your current knowledge of the leisure, fitness and lifestyle worlds will be just as key - as will the gravitas needed to develop relationships with our senior management teams.
