Community Sports Manager - Whitehaven Sports Centre

Community Sports Manager

Based: Copeland, Whitehaven SALARY: Including Cost Of Living Allowance 24,042

Community is at the heart of everything we do. We're the UK's largest leisure operator and the first and largest leisure social enterprise, so we have a lot to be proud of and aim to still do more to promote health, fitness and sport to the communities that we serve. We are looking for an experienced and passionate Community Sports and health Manager to help us to widen the participation of physical and sports activity in and around Copeland.

Working across our 3 leisure facilities in Whitehaven and working in the local community of Copeland, you'll work with a small team of health and community sports specialists, working together to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle to communities across Copeland. This is an interesting role that will use your passion for delivering health and sports opportunities across the community. Your people skills and ability to work with other key stakeholders will be essential. The main objective of the role is to interact with the community to encourage and increase participation in activity. You'll be dealing with a range of people as diverse as school children, the elderly, disabled people, women & girls and BAME communities, so you'll need to have excellent communication skills. Amongst others, you'll work closely with senior managers and teams in the centres, as well as NHS, public health, community groups, clubs, third sector organisations, schools and implement the programmes that you'll be promoting. This is an exciting time to be joining us, as sport and community is a key focus in Copeland which is already benefiting from investment into the leisure services in the next few years.

Ideally, you'll have a degree in health delivery, sports development or a health/sport-related subject and be able to demonstrate your experience of working with people in a leisure setting. Although working as part of a wider team, you'll be expected to manage your own workload, be self-sufficient and confident managing a small team. You'll be comfortable dealing with stakeholders at all levels and adept at giving presentations. A creative thinker, you'll thrive on devising new initiatives to work with the community to foster their participation in sport and exercise.

In return, we offer a range of benefits that you'd expect from the UK's largest leisure provider:

Pension schemes

Ride to work scheme

Discounted membership at our leisure centres

The opportunity to join the GLL Society and have a say in how we're run plus associated social events

Career pathways

Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best
