Events Bar Supervisor 

The Hilton Birmingham is recruiting for two Events Bar Supervisors to work in the Conference and Events team. The hotel has recently been completely refurbished and is looking forward to hosting an array of events in the year ahead. This is a permanent, full time position offering experience in large events and a chance to progress within Hilton. 

What will I be doing?

As Events Bar Supervisor, you will be responsible for organising the bar, wine or dispense service for specific events as assigned by the Bars Manager or Assistant Bars Manager. You will be required to brief and supervise the Bar team members, liaise with guests and event organisers, as well as play a key role ensuring liquor stock is controlled. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Support the Bars Manager and Assistant Bars Manager to organise and manage the bar and wine operations for meetings, events, exhibitions and banquets for between 10 to 1500 guests.
  • Supervise, train and develop the Bars team members
  • Demonstrate a perfect knowledge of all beverages served in the department and how beverages are prepared and presented
  • Comply with licensing regulations and hotel procedures relating to the bar and service of alcoholic beverages and conduct staff training sessions accordingly
  • Maximise revenue and increase average spend per person through upselling, high customer service standards, effective training and motivational techniques
  • Maintain service standards and ensure they are monitored and continuously evaluated, with an emphasis on high quality and efficiency.
  • Evaluate guest satisfaction levels with a focus on continuous improvement and ensure the sub department targets are met
  • Awareness of industry trends and propose ideas to build and expand the range and quality of services offered
  • Maintain costs in line with sub department targets, identifying any areas for action
  • Support the Bars Management team to ensure food and beverage cost control targets and profit margins are maintained
  • Maintain good communication and work relationships in all hotel areas and with external customers and suppliers
  • Ensure staffing levels meet business and are in line with payroll targets
  • Deal with sudden staff shortages through absenteeism and report all absences according to Company Attendance Procedures
  • Ensure training is carried out on an ongoing basis
  • Carry out detailed team member briefings
  • Ensure post event reports are generated and communicated
  • Plan logistics of equipment specifics for events
  • Ensure compliance with and the proper training of Team Members so that all Company Health and Safety, and Fire Regulations and procedures are understand and applied
